How to make sure your Hair Products last longer.

Hi loves!!! I have a cold and I love being pampered so please show me love in the comment section lol. But that’s not why we are here. As the title suggests, I’m going to share a few tips for us girls on a budget on how to minimize your hair products and make them last longer. I actually go months before I have to buy new hair products because I’m skilled with managing lol. So here goes:

1. Your Shampoo is for your scalp only. Except you dunk your hair in products which you really shouldn’t be doing, shampoo your scalp only. I mean how dirty can your hair be if you cleanse weekly at most. After you’ve cleansed your scalp, run the suds/soapy water through the length of your hair to clean it. You can decide to shampoo your hair 1 out of 4 times you wash.

Why your hair isn’t growing II : Reasons

image

Hey lovelies.
So as promised, here are some of the reasons why your hair may not seem to be growing or you’re not retaining Length.

Not enough Moisture : With our climate here and general hair type, our hair is almost always dry and doesn’t retain as much moisture as it needs. The key is to make sure you’re doing your part by moisturizing constantly. DO NOT over shampoo your hair and please deep condition your hair (this has been my game changer). Retaining moisture helps fight breakage which promotes length retention.. You see? It’s all one long chain. On the other hand, do not over moisturize. You don’t want too soft hair either..

Knowing your hair porosity: Porosity is the measure of the hairs ability to absorb moisture. It may not be the end of the World if you don’t know whether your hair is highly porous or has low porosity or maybe it’s somewhere in the middle but having this knowledge provides a guide line on how you treat your hair. Whether you need more moisture or you can do without all that hair product that’ll weigh your strands down. For those with low hair porosity, Continue reading

After the big chop: What you’ll need…

Hey guys,

By the way, slay Jill!

By the way, slay Jill!

Recently big chopped or starting a healthy hair journey?  I am excited to share some of the basic things you’ll need for your hair journey because as they say, knowledge is power right? right?  Oh and most importantly, I’ll be outlining some great yet affordable products that wont leave a dent in your pocket because we are not about to be spending so much on these things please.

  1. Shampoo: Is simply the process of thoroughly cleansing your hair or scalp. Many people skip this or indulge as little as possible. The issue here is that some of the cleansing ingredients used in making shampoos (e.g Sodium lauryl sulfate) are too harsh thereby stripping the hair of its natural oils/moisture although some people are okay with this.

Welcome…

welcome

Hey guys,

I’m more nervous than excited as I start this blogging journey. It could turn out to be anything but I hope it turns out to be inspiring and fulfilling among other great things.

This blog is directed at sharing hair care tips, styling and other fashion finds at the most affordable rates.

Starting with the basics, I big chopped my hair on the 3rd of January, 2014. That’s about 20 months ago and its been funnn for me mostly. I love my natural hair, I love the  versatility of it, I love the texture and very importantly, I love seeing my hair grow. The major challenge I’ve encountered is acquiring all the products I want need at the prices they cost and still have money left over for other things as I’m still a student and I’m not getting paid yet. But I wasn’t going to let that stop me now, was I? You shouldn’t too.

If you’re thinking of going natural or already are and you’re getting discouraged because you’ve heard or found out that you will become a product junkie and therefore spend all of your money or time acquiring products then please join me as I share my experiences and figure out the best ways to grow healthy natural hair on the most affordable budget possible.

Oh don’t worry, I’ll do all the research and even use my hair as the ‘lab rat’ and all you need to do is subscribe, read and comment. Ask me anything hair related and if I don’t already have the answer, I’ll find it for you.

Welcome to Naturalgirlonabudget. Start your hair journey with me, I got your back.

I love you already.
